Personality:
...Shintaro is pretty weird. Well, first of all there's the fact that he's an actual NEET, which is sort of obvious from how much time he spends at home. And then there's the fact that he's a fan of soda. Really, he loves the thing, and most of the time that'd be his drink of choice if the option is available. He doesn't mind if he doesn't have them per se, but he's so passionate about it anyways that he'd do a lot of things to get one can of it when he's out (in moderation, of course. ).

At a first glance, it's pretty clear that Shintaro would love to have nothing to do with you, let alone seeing you in the first place. Actually, it's more likely that you'd even notice he exists at all since he'd spend a lot of his time being locked in his room and doing... well, whatever things he do in there. It's not as if you could get the privilege of knowing that if you've never met him. Still, on the off-chance you do, you'll quickly realize that he's pretty much a quiet young man. Well, one that loves to snark you to kingdom come that is.

Generally he'd act curt and polite to those he doesn't know, which is pretty much normal for someone in his ethnicity. But when he's a bit familiar with someone else, he'd generally be abrasive and try to get away from you if you're persistent in befriending him. This tends to backfire on him a lot, as he happened to be surrounded with nosy people. Normally, Shintaro seldom yells unless he's either: A) completely flustered or B) something really bad happened (like his computer's keyboard short-circuiting).

Let's not mention the fact that he gets nervous easily. It's only normal when weird things like being held up in a terrorist situation happens in front of him okay. Generally Shintaro's able to keep his nerves up even in those situations, but more likely than not he'd lose his cool easily when his friends are harmed in front of him. Whenever nervous, Shintaro would just shake and internally panic, and unless an external force happened to be there, he wouldn't be able to focus his thoughts at all. It's clear that despite his stoic and abrasive appearance, he's actually more fragile than he liked to be.

Shintaro has no motivation at all. He was a 'genius', so to speak, he had it all, good grades, normal life, a famous sibling. He doesn't have a purpose in his life because he knows it'd be nothing to him, he'd reach it too quickly. While he has a goal, it's pretty much impossible to reach since it involved reviving the dead. Naturally, he's content with just staying at home, living his life quietly till he dies. With the addition of Mekakushi-dan in his life, while he might still have no motivation in his life, at the very least they gave him enough things to look forward to in his life apart from locking himself from reality.

His only desire, that is, to make up for his only one regret: Ayano. This regret that stemmed from being unable to cope with loss is what continued to eat him even long after her death. In fact, losing her made him realize that she was everything for him and that his life will never be the same again. In a way, she's like his own cage in the end, despite being that one that first got him to reach for his own goal. It's ironic, really.

He also tends to view people as annoyances he doesn't need in his life. Well actually he does have opinions besides that, but he's generally too awkward to articulate these feelings. This generally makes it seem that he doesn't really care about people while it's not the case in reality. Take for example, his little sister: Momo. Shintaro generally seems annoyed at her and belittle her like a normal older brother figure, but it's pretty clear that he cared for her a great deal as he was willing enough to take a shot meant for her when Kuroha attacked them. And let's not even start on how he's obsessed with Ayano and the time he had with her and his ways of trying to cope with it.

Abilities: While he does gain eye powers, it's as of yet unknown. Not to mention, in this canon point, he's just as human as any other people, so.
